I gave up buying cooking spray over a year ago. I didn't like the idea of the chemicals that are in them, or the waste of the can it's self. Another down side was that I never knew how much was left in the can and all too often I would run out when I needed it the most. I am always looking to make my kitchen healthier, and ideally, that doesn't mean losing too much convenience. For a year I buttered every pan I used, but that got old. It's messy and time consuming.
Look what I got for Christmas- a Misto hand pumped oil sprayer. You just pour in a little oil, pump the top a few times, and spray.

It's hard to show it's efficacy in a photo, but it works quite well. It sure saves time, and I know exactly what is in my oil!
It was relatively inexpensive at $8, and I have seen them at both TJ Maxx and Kitchen Collection. As inexpensive as it was, I am sure I will save even more money in the long run- a bonus to being chock full of health benefits. I can refill it with whatever I want as many times as it will allow.
As for long term use, I will update after I've had it for awhile, but thankful that they make a product like this!
